Gift Ideas

A friend drove me to the surgeon, waited, filled my prescription, wrote me detailed instructions on what to do, organised folks to visit me and kept on checking up with me.

I want to get her a present. I was thinking of a bouquet of flowers. Do you have any other suggestions? She's still a college student, and college students always need stuff. I don't want to give her a gift card or cash though. Do you guys have any ideas?

You could always go the stocking stuffer route and get a bunch of stuff. Walgreens has a fun 20 questions game. Or a box of chocolates perhaps? Does she drink coffee? Maybe a pound of really good coffee? A DVD?

Laura's thoughts: "Its a girl. Get her flowers, she'll love them. Along with a nice card. If he knows her well enough he can pick out a little something from Target like earrings or a scarf or something."

I think the best gifts for something like that are gifts that show you have paid attention to her--like, does she complain that her apartment is boring? Get her a lovely piece of art (or take her shopping for some) or some other nice thing for her home. Is there a book or other item she's been wanting but has delayed buying because she's a student?

Dinner is good too, students are quickly tired of college fare and food on a budget. Or, if she's in a dorm, a nice care package for dorm life--inexpensive microwave if she can have them, popcorn, small bottles of juice that would fit in her fridge, small bouquet of flowers, hotplate, healthy and unhealthy munchies for study sessions, caffeine in her favorite variety (coffee/tea/soda) etc. A subscription to her favorite magazine (whether Cosmopolitan or Foreign Policy or god forbid the Economist) or something good like that. :) Good luck!

Oh, and I hope you feel better soon. Keep us posted. :)

OFC,

Thanks for the input. I'm leaning towards the flowers and cards route.

H~

I like the way you think! I'll send along a DVD with the card and flowers.

Thanks for everyone's ideas!
